Fans, friends and family of actor Marvin Agustin can heave a big sigh of relief.  The Marvin Agustin arrested for reportedly selling shabu is not the award-winning actor. He’s just a  namesake.

This, the entrepreneur-actor himself said in an interview after the presscon of TV5’s Karinderia Wars, which he is co-producing and hosting.

“Nagne-negosyo tayo (he has a string of restaurants) pero hindi yon,” he explains.  “Nag-release na ako ng statement sa social media tungkol dito.”

Marvin recalls how he just woke up one day to a barrage of messages asking him about the issue.

“Pagbukas ko ng social media, andon ang pangalan ko,” he recalls.

Marvin adds that even his family got affected.  So he’s just too glad the issue was brought up.

His newest venture has nothing to do with drugs at all.  Marvin is excited about acting as talent manager of sorts in
“Karinderya Wars,” a reality show which searches for the next ‘luto negosyo” star.

“Pangarap ko maging talent manager na magdi-discover ng culinary treasures nating mga Pinoy.”

He sees himself doing this on a long-term basis.

“Tuloy tuloy kaming maghahanap ng tunay na talent ng Pinoy.”

Marvin is being pitted against his friend, Chef Boy Logro, who has a 15-minute cooking show in another channel in the same timeslot as “Karinderia Wars,” which airs weekdays at 11:15 a.m. starting Monday, April 8.

Marvin doesn’t mind. His competitor is a friend.

“Gusto ko siyang competition,” Marvin says.

The award-winning actor has movie and TV offers, but he has to turn them down due to his busy schedule.  But he plans to face the cameras again.

Acting offers

“I miss acting,” admits Marvin. “Maraming roles na dumadating pero hindi akio na e-excite. Kung maganda, gagawin ko. At least my chance na akong pumili.”

He revealed plans to come up with a soap opera that combines drama and adventure and is geared for children.

Speaking of children, Marvin shares that he has yet to introduce a lady whom he wants to marry to his eight-year-old twin sons. But he’s not losing hope.
“Maganda yong may makasama sa habang buhay  at mag- i-inspire sa yo.”

With his career and businesses in place, that’s all this bachelor needs for now.

“Baka nga next project ko, dating show with me as searchee,” he jokes.
