The Philippines won one gold medal, two silver medals and one bronze medal at the 2013 New York Festival's World's Best Television& Films held at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 9 (US Time).
Fifty countries joined the festival, and the international award-giving body presented 119 Gold World Medals, 145 Silver, 104 Bronze, and 327 Finalist Certificates.
ABS-CBN bagged the Gold World Medal for ABS-CBN Sports’ “A Call to Arms” under the sports program promotion category. The promotion ad was used for the coverage of the 26th Southeast Asian Games. The network also won a silver medal for “Johnny: The Juan Ponce Enrile Story,” which details the life story and controversies surrounding the Senate President.
The Kapuso network, on other hand, won a silver world medal for “Reel Time: Bone Dry (Salat)” under the Social Issues category.
ABS-CBN also got six finalist certificates. They are for the rom-com morning teleserye “Be Careful With My Heart” (Telenovelas category), “Budoy” (drama), “Ang Simula” (History & Society), “Failon Ngayon” (Current Affairs),“Krusada” (Social Issues) and Jane Oneiza’s participation in “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (Best Performance by an Actress).
Unitel Productions won a Bronze World Medal for Sun Life Financial’s “A Life in a Day” under the Short Films category.
